Robinson Canó, currently playing as the second baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB), is an eight-time MLB All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.   1.  He is of Dominican origin baseball player who is in contract with Seattle Mariners of Major League Basketball. He is a second baseman, who bats left, throws right.
  2.  He was born Robinson Jose Cano Mercedes on October 22, 1982, San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, to Claribel Mercedes and Jose Cano.
  3.  Named after baseball legend Jackie Robinson, grew up in the Dominican Republic, though he lived for some time New Jersey. He attended Newark School, Barringer High School, and San Pedro Apostol High School in San Pedro de Macoris.
