Plan Bee: Two native creatures considered for endangered and threatened status

TRAVERSE CITY — They may not be regarded iconic Grand Traverse symbols but the wood turtle and rusty-patched bumblebee are important north country natives. They're also quietly disappearing.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is assessing whether the two Michigan “species of special concern” should receive protection under the Endangered Species Act.
