So long, Fort Oglethorpe; hello, Walker County: Jeff Long leaves city to take on county chore

After spending more than two decades as an employee of the City of Fort Oglethorpe, Jeff Long is heading down the highway — U.S. 27 — to become head of Walker County’s roads department.

“It is a good career move,” Long said of his leaving his dual roles as director of the city’s public works and recreation departments. “This opportunity came up, and after looking at the challenges it offered I decided to accept.”
