Science web site Sea and Sky features a chronological listing of astronomical events in 2016. Six events are included for May 2016 (including a "Full Moon, Blue Moon" on 21 May 2016), but a "green moon" is not among them. The original poster appeared to present the image macro as a joke, but it soon began spreading without context among other Facebook users.
