Salman Khan, an Indian film actor, television personality, producer, singer and philanthropist, with over 25 years in film industry, has a lifelike wax statue installed in London's Madame Tussauds Museum, as well as in New York's Madame Tussauds Museum. He is the first Bollywood actor to have been ranked second in the “Most Googled Indian of 2015,” list. Here are 30 interesting facts about the actor:

  1. He has offered to donate the profits from the biggest blockbuster in his career – “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” to poor farmers all over India. His sister along with the movie’s director, have discussed the matter with Eknath Khadse, Revenue Minister of Maharashtra, India.
  2. In the scene from the movie “Ek Tha Tiger,” where Tiger is painting Zoya, the artwork show is actually Khan’s real work. He had reportedly painted the picture while the crew was setting up the cameras for filming the scene.
  3. While filming the movie “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” in the location Karjat, he painted houses as a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign.
  4. Khan had all his dates blocked, before accepting his famous role in the “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.” He was at that time working on “No Entry Mein Entry.” However, for unknown reasons, he cleared his schedule and gave those dates to “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”
  5. With his 2009 movie “Wanted,” he got an action hero image among his fans. It is reported that he performed all his stunts in the movie by himself and refused any body double.
  6. In preparation for his character in the title role as “Sultan,” he gained around 10 kgs and also had a different hairstyle and moustache.
  7. He refused to accept any kind of fee for his movie “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” as a token of gratitude to the director Sooraj Barjatya. The actor and director duo have collaborated again for the fourth time, though this movie was the director’s comeback after 10 years.
  8. He opened his own production company Salman Khan Being Human Productions, which donates every single rupee generate from movie productions to the NGO Being Human, started by him. It is a registered charitable trust, with focus on Education and Healthcare, helps the underprivileged.

  17. He is a dedicated bodybuilder and has never been married. However, he has had a few relationships with Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai, and Katrina Kaif.
  18. “Tiger Zinda Hai,” the sequel to “Ek Tha Tiger,” will be shot in 4 countries - India, Austria, Morocco & Abu Dhabi, while the predecessor was shot in 5 countries India, Turkey, Ireland, Cuba & Thailand. These are the only two movies of Khan, for which he had traveled to multiple countries.

While filming “Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United,” Khan and the cast members Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre went hunting on a distant forest of Rajasthan, India and happened to get involved in an infamous black buck poaching case. He spent a week in Jodhpur jail for this case before the court granted him bail, in the year 2007.
  20. “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” is actually the 14th movie, in which Khan was named as Prem. Also, his character was named as Prem in all his other four collaborations with the movie’s director Barjatya.
  21. His 1994 movie “Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!” was the first Bollywood movie to have grossed over 1 billion rupees. The movie actually revived Khan’s career which was doomed with 7 successive flops. Director Karan Johar also considers this movie to be the one that changed his life.
  22. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to keep Khan’s guest appearance as Imaan in the 2007 “Saawariya,” under cover. But later made it public that he would be a supporting role.
  23. His 2016 movie “Sultan,” is the third movie in the history of Bollywood to cross the 300 crore mark. As for Khan’s career, this is his second movie to collect more than 300 crore, after “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”
  24. He wanted the ticket price for his film “Jai Ho,” to be kept minimal, in an effort to make it affordable for all the people to watch and know the message delivered.
  25. Till his 1998 movie “Bandhan,” he refused to work with Jackie Shroff, for more than 10 years, as he believed the Shroff had an affair with Sangeeta Bijlani in the late 80’s. It was with this film that he let of that grudge.
  26. He hosted the show “Bigg Boss 4,” which was a commercial success due to his hosting. It even surpassed the famous hosting by Amitabh Bachchan in the “Bigg Boss 3.” Following this, he started to host all the other seasons of the “Bigg Boss” series.
  27. During the casting for his movie “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” it was difficult to find an actress to play the character of his sister. Swara Bhaskar is said to be the only actress who agreed to the offer, though the director had many actress in mind. The other actress reportedly wanted romance roles with Khan, other than the offered sister role.
  28. He opened another production company Salman Kahan Film in the year 2014. The first movie to be released under the SKF banner was “Dr. Cabbie,” a Canadian movie, which became the second highest-grossing film in Canada.
  29. The story of his 2010 movie “Veer,” was written by him in the late 80’s. He considered it to be his ambitious project and even planned to cast Sanjay Dutt as the lead.
  30. While filming “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun…!” Khan was having a hectic schedule due to his other movie “Karan Arjun,” with Shah Rukh Khan. He decided to leave “Karan Arjun,” and concentrate on “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun,” but the director Sooraj Barjatya insisted on him working on both the projects.
