Amari Cooper, since his first game as a rookie, has been outstanding, despite injuries plaguing the 2017 season. Be it in his college career or NFL career, he has managed to distinguish himself as a dominant offensive, with impeccable performances and un-paralleled ball-catching skills, having set numerous records. Here are some really interesting facts about the football wide receiver, considered to be one of the best wide receivers in NFL:

  1.  He signed a five-year contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys on March 17, 2020, worth $100 million, in which $60 million was guaranteed, $40 million at signing and a $20 million injury designation, fully guaranteed in 2022.
  2.  He became the first rookie in the franchise history to have reached the 1000 yard mark on December 20, 2015, while also becoming the only receiver in the club to achieve the feat since Randy Moss in 2005.
  3.  In the 2015 NFL Draft, Cooper was selected in the first round with the fourth overall pick by The Oakland Raiders. He made his NFL debut on September 13, 2015, hauling five receptions for 47 yards in a 33–13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
  4.  In the second week of his rookie season, he had a franchise rookie record eight receptions for 134 yards in a 27–20 road victory over the Cleveland Browns.
  5.  He became the first Raiders receiver with consecutive 100+ yard receiving games since Randy Moss in 2005. His 290 receiving yards in three games were the third in NFL history.
  6.  Amari Cooper was born on June 17, 1994 to Terrance Cooper and Michelle Green in Miami, Florida. He was the youngest of five children in the family.
  7.  He, along with his four brothers – Airrika Cooper, Ashley Cooper, Aspen Cooper and Avery Cooper, spent their early years in Miami.
  8.  He doesn’t know much about his father, and his mother raised him all by herself. It has been said that his father has been in prison, since Amari was a toddler.
  9.  According to reports, his father, having been found guilty of burglary of an unoccupied residence, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in May 1996.
  10.  He has been serving his time in a Florida state prison, and is expected to be released in June 2022. However, Amari has never once visited his father in prison, claiming he is not bothered about the not having any relationship with his father.
  11.  Following his father being jailed, his mother had to take up multiple jobs in order to provide for the five children in the family, living at a housing project in North Miami.
  12.  Amari remembers that shuffling between various jobs, and taking care of the children, Michelle used to walk for miles to and fro from work, not being able to afford any mode of transportation.
  13.  He distinctly remembers an instance, when he refused to go along with her to get groceries, and that she went alone and carried back huge boxes of groceries, leaving marks on her arms.
  14.  In an effort to support her as much as she supported him, just as he got drafter, he acquired a home for his mother and also bought her a care of her dreams.
  15.  He attended Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami, Florida, where he missed much of his junior season due to an injury.
  16.  Still, with 16 catches for 175 yards with four scores, he managed to become one of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s primary targets.
  17.  He hauled in 33 receptions for 722 yards and six touchdowns in his final year, and was a first-team FHSAA 8A All-State selection, as well as the number-four player on Orlando Sentinel’s Florida Top 100.
  18.  He scored a 75-yard touchdown grab and a 93-yard punt return for a score at the 2012 Under Armour All-America Game. He was considered a four-star prospect, as number-six wide receiver and number 45 in the Rivals100.
  19.  He was listed as the nation’s number-seven wideout and number-46 overall prospect in the ESPNU 150 while ranking 25th in the ESPNU Southeast Top 100 and number 12 in Florida.
  20.  On September 22, 2011, he announced his commitment to the University of Alabama, over, Florida State, Miami and Ohio State.

  22.  During his freshman year, he led the team with 11 touchdowns, breaking the Alabama’s 62-year old record set by Al Lary. With 59 receptions for 1000 yards, he broke Julio Jones's Alabama freshman records.
  23.  He became Alabama's all-time leader in receptions (228), receiving yards (3,463), and receiving touchdowns (31) during his junior season in the year 2014.
  24.  He was considered one of the best wide receivers in the 2015 NFL Draft, and was projected to be a top-10 pick, some expecting him as the fourth pick.
  25.  During the 2017 season, Week 7 game, he caught 11 passes for a then-career-high 210 yards and two touchdowns in a narrow 31–30 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
  26.  This yardage was the most by any NFL player at that point, as well as the second-most in franchise history, and the first 200+ yard game in franchise history since 1965.
  27.  However, due to an ankle injury, he struggled throughout the latter half of the season, and posted some career-lows, finishing the 2017 season with 48 receptions for 680 yards.
  28.  Raiders exercised the fifth year option on Cooper’s contract on April 22, 2018. But was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, on October 22, 2018.
  29.  He led the Cowboys against Tennessee Titans with five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown in his very first game for the team, on November 5, 2018.
  30.  During Week 14 of 2018 season, in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he had 10 catches for a career-high 217 yards and three touchdowns, as the Cowboys won 29-23.
  31.  His 217 receiving yards were the most by a player for single game in the 2018 season. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, for the second time in the same season.
