Meek Mill, one of the most popular hip-hop recording artists, has achieved quite a name in the music industry, right in the early phases of his career. But, his journey has been a very rough one, to the extent that he has been to hell and back.   1.  Meek became a leading advocate of criminal justice reform in the United States, where he transitioned his advocacy into the co-formation of Reform Alliance with fellow recording artist and entrepreneur Jay-Z.
  2.  The other founding partners of Reform Alliance, along with Mill, have collectively pledged a total $50 million to the foundation, while political activist, and CNN host/political analyst Van Jones has been hired as their inaugural CEO.
  3.  In February 2012, MTV listed Meek Mill as the "#7 hottest MC" in their annual "Hottest MCs in the Game" list.
  4.  He announced the launch of his own record label imprint, Dream Chasers Records, with the flagship artists Louie V. Gutta, Lee Mazin and Goldie, on October 26, 2012.

  13.  In his teenage years, he participated in various rap battles, under the pseudonym Meek Millz. Around this time, he used to stay up even after midnight, filling notebooks with phrases and verses.
  14.  Along with three of his friends, he formed the rap group The Bloodhoundz. The group bought blank CDs, and jewel cases at Kinkos, encouraging friends to burn them with the group's songs and distribute them.
  15.  He was arrested at the age of 18, for illegally possessing a firearm and was beaten up by the police, to the extent that his lips and eyes were swollen.
  16.  He was charged with assaulting the police, following a statement given by two black cops stating that he chased them down with a gun and tried to kill them.
  17.  He was found to have violated his probation and the judge revoked Mill's travel permit, in December 2012. He was again found to have violated his probation in May 2013.

  23.  While he received several other record deals, Mill felt collaborating with T.I. was "an opportunity of a lifetime" and thus chose his label.
  24.  But, as a setback, he was arrested and ordered to serve seven months in prison. He was released in early 2009.
  25.  In February 2011, Rick Ross announced the signing of Mill along with fellow American rapper Wale to his Maybach Music Group (MMG) label.
