Stocks tumble at the open as Dow drops about 200 - USA TODAY

Stocks tumbled at the open on Wall Street Tuesday as investors continue to grapple with the downside risks associated with slowing world growth and persistent uncertainty related to the Federal Reserve's rate hike plans.

The Dow Jones industrial average was down about 200 points, or 1.2%, in early trading. The Standard & Poor's 500 stock index was off 1.2% and the Nasdaq composite was down about 1.3%.
