Hillary Clinton is a Women's Rights Activist, U.S. First Lady and a Government Official. She served as first lady from 1993 to 2001, and then as a U.S. senator from 2001 to 2009. She ran for presidency in 2008, but conceded her nomination when it became apparent that Barack Obama held a majority of the delegate vote. Here are 38 more interesting facts about Hillary Clinton.

  1. Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised in Park Ridge, Illinois.
  2. Her parents were Republicans.
  3. Hillary’s fifth grade teacher, Mrs. King, was so fond of teaching Hillary, it was said that she followed her to the sixth grade so that she could have her in class for a second year.
  4. When Hillary Clinton was 12 years old, she wrote to NASA to ask how she could become an astronaut. She later received a reply saying they didn’t accept women in the astronaut program.
  5. Hillary would sometimes come to class in the ninth grade wearing her Girl Scout uniform. Perhaps not coincidentally, she would later promote school uniforms.
  6. She was very active in her community. When she was a teenager, she organized a baby-sitting group to look after the children of migrant Mexican workers in rural Illinois.
  7. The class of 1965 at Maine Township High School South voted her "Most Likely To Succeed."
  8. She appeared as a contestant on the television quiz show College Bowl.
  9. Clinton appeared in Life Magazine in 1969 after making headlines as the first student commencement speaker at Wellesley.
  10. During her senior year at Wellesley, Hillary wrote her thesis on Chicago's radical community organizer Saul Alinsky under the direction of Professor Schechter. Her thesis was supposedly suppressed years later while she was at the White House.

  17. Hillary and Bill Clinton were faculty members of the University Of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville until Bill ran for election and became Arkansas’ attorney general in 1976.

  19. She kept her maiden name after marrying Bill, and only changed it to appease the Arkansas voters.
