Trumaine Johnson, currently the cornerback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL), was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Here are some very interesting facts about the American football cornerback:

Johnson is a lockdown cover man, who posted 18 interceptions during his first six years in the league. He is ranked # 27 by the Forbes, among the world’s highest paid athletes of 2018.
On December 31, 2018, he tweets apology after being benched. He didn’t play in the Jet’s Week 17 loss to the Patriots because he overslept and missed practice and meeting during the week.
He was born Trumaine Monte Johnson on January 01, 1990 in Stockton, California to Lynn Stallworth and Curtis Johnson.
He attended Edison High School, Stockton, California, where he was unranked wide receiver prospect.
Johnson played for University of Montana, as cornerback and as a freshman in 2008. He started in 13 of 14 games, recording 54-12-2, with forced fumble, six tackles for loss and a sack. He was a Big Sky honorable mention selection.
Despite losing four games due to injury in 2009, he was ranked first in the league in pass deflections and second in interceptions. He had to his credit 31 solo tackles, with 54 stops and was twice named ‘Player of the Week.’
In 2010, he was tabbed a first team All-American by every entity, including American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, The Sports Network, Phil Steele and Walter Camp.
With NFL combine score of 4.50 second for 40 yard dash, 35 1/2 inch vertical jump, 10.2 inch broad jump, Johnson was ranked as the fifth best cornerback prospect by NFL analyst Mike Mayock.
Johnson was the third round and sixty fifth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, by the St. Louis Rams. He signed a four year contract worth $ 3.04 million.
He made his professional debut on September 09, against Detroit Lions and recorded his first career interception during a 19-13 win over Seattle Seahawks, on September 30.

He finished his rookie season starting in three of the 16 games he played and recorded 31 tackles including 29 solo with eight pass break ups and two interceptions.
On March 22, 2013, Johnson was arrested in Missoula, for driving under the influence of alcohol and without headlights on. He pleaded guilty and received one-year suspended sentence.
In the season opening game against Arizona Cardinals, on September 08, 2013, he made three combined tackles, broke up two passes with an interception in a 27-24 win.
He started in 12 of the 16 games he played in 2013 and finished with 68 tackles including 58 solo, 11 pass deflections, three interceptions and a forced fumble.
On August 23, 2014, Johnson suffered a knee injury against Cleveland Browns, during their third preseason game. He suffered a sprained MCL and was inactive for about eight weeks.
In the game against Oakland Raiders, on November 30, he recorded six solo tackles, broke up two passes, made two interceptions and a touchdown as Rams romped home 52-0 winners.
Despite playing in only nine games, he ended the 2014 season with creditable 36 combined tackle including 33 solo apart from six pass deflections, three interceptions and a touchdown.
On January 3, 2016, in the game against San Francisco 49ers, he collected a season high of ten solo tackles and broke up a pass. Rams went down 16-19, in overtime with 23 yard field goal from 49ers’ Phil Dawson.
He finished the 2015 season with a career high 71 combined tackles, with a career high 17 pass deflections and seven interceptions in 14 games.
In 2015, the Pro Football Focus, ranked Johnson among the top 25 cornerbacks with an overall grade of 80.9.

On March 09, 2016, Johnson was placed on the non-exclusive franchise tag for one year and was worth $13.952 million.
Johnson had his highest defensive grade of 90.1 for the season, when he recorded five solo tackles, a career high pass breakups and an interception during a 17-13 win against Arizona Cardinals, on October 02, 2016.
He was carried off the field with injury in the game against Buffalo Bills on October 09, 2016. The injury looked far worse when he was seen with protective boot and crutches, turned out to be right ankle sprain, which sidelined for two weeks.
Johnson started in all the 14 games he played in 2016, and received an overall grade of 81.0 and was ranked among the top 25 cornerbacks. He had to his credit 57 combined tackles, 11 pass deflections, and an interception.
On March 06, 2017, he signed his franchise tender for a year, guaranteeing himself a salary of $16.742 million in the process making him then, the NFL’s highest paid cornerback.
He started the 2017 season on high when he was named ‘NFC Defensive Player of the Week.’ In the game against Colts, he recorded two solo tackles, a pass tackles, a pass deflection, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, interception, and a touchdown in 46-9 win.
In week 13, in the Rams 32-16 victory over Arizona Cardinals, he recorded a season high seven solo tackles and broke up a pass.
He ended the 2017 season with 65 combined tackles, 14 pass deflections and two interceptions. He was ranked 68th among qualifying cornerbacks with an overall grade of 74.2, by the Pro Football Focus.
Johnson signed a five-year contract with New York Jets on March 16, 2018, worth $ 72.5 million, with $ 20 million signing bonus and fully guaranteed money of $ 34 million. He is the Jets biggest free agency signing of the offseason.
His 2018 season with Jets was average at best in the first four games, before he missed five straight games, due to a right quad strain during a practice on October 04.
